Michael Dwayne Boddie, the father of former Virginia Tech and NFL quarterback Michael Vick has been charged with federal crimes, including heroin distribution and money laundering, according to The Virginian-Pilot. The 55-year-old was among 12 people listed in a federal indictment released on Wednesday. 

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security division, prosecutors say.

The incitement surfaced roughly four months after his son, Michael Vick, announced his retirement from the NFL. The former NFL quarterback had his own trouble with the law after running a dogfighting ring. He was released from Kansas prison after serving 18 months.
