Beth Moseley and Tyler Ayers's dream of becoming a power couple came true last week when they were crowned prom king and queen at A.C. Reynolds High school in Asheville, N.C. The couple, who both have Down Syndrome, basked in the moment.
It all started with a "prom-posal" last year, where Tyler got all his classmates involved in the special moment. One by one each student brought Beth a rose. Finally Tyler appeared and popped the big question, to which Beth instantly said "yes".
Tyler's "prom-posal" was a social media hit. The video got tens of thousands of views on Facebook.
"I'm hoping for, to get that crown, that crown is mine."
The couple was super excited to attend the prom but had bigger overall intentions - to be crowned prom kind and queen.
Beth and Tyler have been an item since middle school. Beth unhesitatingly describes them as a power couple. "They love me and they love Tyler. All the guys like Tyler. All the girls love me. So, why not? We are the power couple, for sure," Beth said.
Reynolds teacher Annie Choi said everyone at the school has a special place in their hearts for the couple. "They are kind of the poster children for being very excited about prom, I guess," Choi said, laughing.
Their families were excited on the eve of the big night. "My daughter's graduating, and she's on the prom court. It's pretty awesome," Beth's father, James Mosley, said.
"They really are in love and they just adore each other. They can't wait until prom night," Tyler's mother, Cindy Ayers, said.
The adorable couple finally had that special moment last Saturday night.
